| | | Golden Eagle and a Hoopoe Just been looking on the Cornwall Birding website: BIRD REPORTS – Recent Sightings
And there are reports of a Hoopoe and a Golden Eagle having been spotted in the West Cornwall/Penzance area in last few days.
We have to go down that way tomorrow, so will be on the lookout. Hubby has seen a Hoopoe before, but I never have, and as for the Golden Eagle When I first read it I thought it might have been a mistaken buzzard, but its been reported by various people, and all seem to know what they are talking about.
Off to clean the bins and charge my camera! |

| | | Re: Golden Eagle and a Hoopoe I don't know any thing about the Cornish Golden Eagle, but wonder whether it's an escaped bird like the one that's been around in South Wales. Unlikely to be one of the Scottish birds. hope you connect with it.
Good time of year for overshooting Hoopoes now. |

Good time of year for overshooting Hoopoes now. | On the "escapee" idea, no one on the Cornwall Birding site can yet confirm whether it has jessies on, but there was apparently a juvenile GE around the same area last year, and they are wondering if its the same bird. This is apparently ony the 3rd report of a GE in Cornwall. First one was 1800's! |

This may be the same one in Cornwall, who knows

Nige | Been a few about. The earliest I think was on The Scillies a couple of weeks prior to the Portland bird.
Cheers,

| | | Re: Golden Eagle and a Hoopoe Just found this vid on Cornwall Birding, of the actual Hoopoe we were hoping to see. Sadly it had moved on the day we went looking, but the good quality of the video almost makes up for not seeing it in the flesh YouTube - Hoopoe, Gulval nr Penzance, Cornwall 26/03/2011 | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
