| | | First swallow Got home from work to see a lone swallow sitting on the overhead cables. Is this early or about right?
We still have a nest from last year and I was going to set up a webcam before they started nesting again this year. Better get a move on! |

| | | Re: First swallow It's early but not unheard of. April/May is more usual. They turned up early in Kent last year, in my part anyway.

| | | Re: First swallow Where abouts are you?
We are in Cornwall and have seen them as early as Easter weekend before, but as Easter varies that doesn't help much!
The mild settled weather might have helped them on their way, as heard on our local news earlier that there has been a basking shark sighted off the north Cornwall coast, almost 2 months earlier than usual!
You should still have time to put up your camera, as they don't start nesting immediately. |

Better get a move on! | you know what they say, one swallow dosent make a summer, i think , but cant wait till the swallows are over the meadows, and sand martins over the rivers, streams, house martins under the eaves, and the swifts screeching above , what a lovely thought, as we have got all that to look forward too, nearly forgot yes i think your fella is a tad early, but 2 house martins were recorded last week, on another thread. rossy .

A real sign of summer! Cuckoo will be back soon too |

| | | Re: First swallow There was one Swallow in Staines, Surrey, this morning which I didn't see. A local up there saw one this week along with a few Sand Martins.

| | | Re: First swallow my friend told me she heard and saw her first swallow here in N France today
Also, Rossy, she told me the saying in France is "one swallow doesn't make a Spring" instead of Summer as in England . |
