Dead chic mystery (+ my first pellet)

Hello,

I noticed a dead chic, tiny amount of down on spine, on a path behind my flat. About 4-5cm with a yellow beak, no sign of a shell anywhere.

The nearest tree is about 15m away but I suppose it could have fallen from the roof of the building 2m away. I didn't really investigate too much, but it is all complete. I thought that any animal to move it would've eaten it. Wondered if anyone knew the most likely cause of this? I think it's probably a wood pigeon.



On a separate note, my boyfriend brought a pellet back for me to play with, said he found it on a semi-open lawn near a building.


It was mostly fur with some beetle bits and maybe some vole bits? My guess is a kestrel pellet but I really don't know, any suggestions?
