| | | Finding lots of raptor kill sites. In the woods at the back of mine I'm coming across a lot of kill/feeding sites.
Definitely done by a raptor given the surgical slicing of the feathers. Only feathers were left.
3 - Wood Pigeon
1 - Crow (I think)
1 - Magpie
What bird would take on a magpie or a crow?
All found in a large ancient woodland surrounded by meadow and open pasture. |

Buzzards will take roadkill corvids (and pigeons too), but I've not personnally witnessed any raptor tackle a live adult member of the crow family. |

| | | Re: Finding lots of raptor kill sites. Dogghound you are very clued up on your raptors, but Im surprised a Red kite could kill a corvid! I never knew they would tackle live prey of this size. Some thing new again I have learnt from you, thanks |

They will have a go at adult birds too especially if they can catch them off guard. |

| | | Re: Finding lots of raptor kill sites. a peregrine would make mincemeat out of any of the above named, but as its in a wooded area, its possible these are road kill victims, and buzzards would benefit from the carcasses, and dont rule out sparrowhawks,or goshawks rossy. |

All found in a large ancient woodland surrounded by meadow and open pasture. | Did you actually mean that the feather shafts were cut - as if with scissors? If so then you're looking for a mammalian predator, probably fox. |
