| | | Blackbird nest in pyracantha bush... ...I thought it would be safe from the new neighbour's cat....but not so! Bessie Blackie had been sitting on the nest for a week when I noticed the cat from next door sitting under the bush looking up at the nest. The next night was very windy and the nest had moved...was a bit lop-sided....I thought it was the wind. This morning I noticed that a Pieris bush next to the Pyracantha bush had broken branches.....and the nest was upside down and empty...so I think the cat has jumped up to it and landed on the Pieris bush on the way down.
I've seen this cat under bushes near the feeders in the back garden and I've trimmed the bushes where he hides. Any tips on how to deter this pesky cat?
I hoed my borders last week an they're full of his "toilet mounds"
I'm beginning to hate this bloody cat! |

How about using sweets - aniseed balls (or similar) would probably be ideal as they're round, cheaper than marbles, will weather away and importantly sting, but not carry enough energy to cause serious damage to the cat.

| | | Re: Blackbird nest in pyracantha bush... You don't need to actually hit a cat for it to get the message. I ping monkey nuts at my local cats with my catapult. The nuts always veer off target and I've yet to actually connect with a cat. They don't half scarper fast though!

| | | Re: Blackbird nest in pyracantha bush... Its all natural selection, they'll build higher and safer next time - and there's plenty of time this year to do so.
Cheers
