| | | Is it a bird..? I took this pic I saw this object across a field I thought it was rabbit as it big and brown and stationary then it pecked at the ground it was about crow size but brown I thought it could have been a thrush but was far too big.
Then I blew it up but lost the detail if there was any to start with I think its a buzzard..
What do you think or is it just impossible to tell.
Its the brown blob in the middle of the pic.

| | | Re: Is it a bird..? It could be a crow - the sun is quite low, I think, and in that kind of light you do get added red/yellow hues. However, it des look a bit 'upright' (although maybe it was stretching its neck to see who was coming) so I'll take what is always my fall-back option in such circumstances: if in doubt, it's a wood pigeon! |

It wasn't as big as female pheasant. |

| | | Re: Is it a bird..? It's definitely not a buzzard. It has the look of a grey partridge about it (to me anyway) but like Paul says it's probably a woodpigeon.
Cheers. Nik.

| | | Re: Is it a bird..? That posture is so very Mistle Thrush, colouration is reasonable too, plus this is a common way to see them feeding on a meadow - size can be deceptive on just a quick view, so thats my (ill) educated guess.
Cheers

I think it's a Mistle Thrush too- shape + posture both look good + perfect habitat for one. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
