| | | Grebes dancing Down at my local (Tyttenhanger) fishing lake things are hotting up. At least 12 GC Grebes are pairing up and the mating ritual is in full swing.
This male was courting what looks like a young female:
Then another male turned up and the full warpaint was donned, they circled one another like two spanish galleons in full sail until eventually one backed down.
Great stuff!
Robin

Shots are not the best, they were taken on full zoom on my little FZ45.

| | | Re: Grebes dancing Beautiful birds. They have the strangest juveniles that I've ever seen, but the adults are fabulous.

| | | Re: Grebes dancing I just saw some GC grebes that already seem to be a couple. Have I missed my chance to see the displays or will they repeat? I saw one pick up some weeds and got all hopeful but it didn't amount to anything.
I was wondering if it was a courting ritual or a mating one - or are these synonymous to birds? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
