| | | Waxwings - not shy? I just found a group of waxwings today while waiting for the bus and I got very close even though I'm pretty sure they were aware of my presence. I was just in awe at them because I find them really interesting birds and only ever seen them once or twice before.
Is it normal for waxwings to be so, well, not shy? Anyone else usually able to get close to them? |

| | | Re: Waxwings - not shy? Yes they are very bold birds, they tend not to be that interested in people and you can get quite close. |

At one point one seemed to try and land on the head of a woman who was taking a picture of them. Have you not seen the pictures of the ones feeding on apples in sticks held by people watching them?

| | | Re: Waxwings - not shy? They are quite comfortable around people. They don't seem to like dogs.
The larger the number, the more bolder they are or if starving, they become very bold.
Nice change from all those birds that just scare off at the slightest movement of people.
They seem to know you'll do them no harm and become quite comfortable. Not too comfortable all the time but compared to a lot of other birds, they are quite good at letting you getting pretty close to them. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
