Found this amidst a crowd of Chaffinch`s

Can you confirm if this is a Brambling - Fringilla montifringilla noticed them this morning in the garden first time ever had them visit ,maybe due to weather up here .

Yes Bill, they are Bramblings, the one with the darker grey areas is a male, the paler grey is a female. I hadn't seen any for a few weeks, but they've come back to my garden since the snow.

Talking of snow, you seem to have escaped. I woke up to 14 inches of snow in the garden this morning, have a look at the weather thread for some pics.

Thanks for the confirmation Audrey yes we seem to have escaped get heavy flurries now and again but not laying was in Inverness earlier to pick daughter up from Hospital and they had some that is laying

We still have a Brambling in our garden, they will be heading back to Scandinavia soon...

Hi T thats the first time I`ve ever seen one in the garden ,saw them amidst the Chaffinch`s this morning and said to other half never seen that Bird before so grabbed camera to get a quick pic
