Saw 4 of these today near a sandpit in Essex.
Unfortunately we saw a really big one days back but we had no camera
What are they please?   |

The first one looks like a common buzzard. The 2nd photo is a little unclear, but buzzards do this "coupled" flying when courting, so I'd say buzzards.
Our resident pair are building here at the moment and I saw them mating this morning. |

Excellent many thanks for all the replies - amazing I always thought Buzzards hung around in western films, or maybe they were Vultures...
Anyway thanks for the ID - I will try and take some more photos if possible

In America they refer to Turkey Vultures as Buzzards so I can see where you got that from.
I found a huge roost of them in January in California.  |
