| | | ID help for results from my Nikon AF-s 70-300mm For those who migrate here from the photo Forum these were taken with my new Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm lens on my D80. Light just about as perfect as I'll ever get. Full March sunshine, a bright beach with lightly wet pebbles and shells, and breaking waves from an incoming tide behind. All shot hand held without VR on 300mm at max aperture of f5.6. Only adding this here as we've been debating that lens on the photo forum and I didn't want to duplicate the post.
I'm thinking about adding them as my first photos to the Gallery, but want to be 100% sure of the ID first. Sunnydale has helped, as always, and I am sure she is right. But I don't want to make an error when posting them there.
All four taken on the beach between Leysdown on Sea and Shellness on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, not far from high tide yesterday.
I reckon these two are Sanderling.
Lovely day for a walk on the beach.
Behind you, behind you...........
And these two are Turnstone.
Trying to live up to my name.
Am I allowed to turn over shells as well as stones please?

| | | Re: ID help for results from my Nikon AF-s 70-300mm Those are lovely shots Bryan I'm so pleased you're enjoying your new hobby! I can't wait for another walk along that particular beach. So many species and it's just a great place! BTW, if you're submitting to the Gallery, don't forget you need the Latin name for the birds too!

Tracey | Can't wait to walk it with you again! And despite your modesty with the bird names it's going to be great walking with someone who has a good chance of knowing most of the species.
And as you well know, this new hobby that I am loving so much is all down to you.
Bryan.
PS. Tracey, where do I get a crash course in learning Latin please? LOL!
