| | | Buzzing call What commonish garden bird makes a buzzing/rasping sound (almost mechanical sounding). I usually hear it when im out filling the feeders as all the birds wait in the bushes behind my fence for me to leave and chirp away. It seems to be mixed in with a more twittering bird call so "twitter twitter twitter twitter bzzzzzzzzzzz twitter twitter twitter twitter bzzzzzzzz" etc
Thanks |

| | | Re: Buzzing call Thanks man I did a bit of googling and its definitely very similar though the one I hear is goes on a bit longer and is not quite so harsh but thats probably just the individual bird. There only seems to be one visiting regularly (though I have seen a pair) as it has a small growth on it's head or may be an injury (it is super flighty and flys off when it spots me at the window). |

| | | Re: Buzzing call Do you have Siskins visiting your garden? They frequently include a short buzzing sound in their songs. With Greenfinches,I'd describe it more as a 'wheezing' sound than a buzz. |

| | | Re: Buzzing call I'd say Goldfinch, they definately buzz, especially if they are trying to chase each other off feeders, or having a bit of an arguement.

| | | Re: Buzzing call Hmm I have lots of siskins visiting as well as the greenfinch (which defo has a growth on his head, got a good clear look this morning) and the odd goldfinch now and then (though when I've heard this call they have not been about).
I can probably record the call next time. It's just so odd to hear this almost insect sounding buzz in the middle of a pleasant melodic song. |
