trouble is you're a bit early.
though you've got a chance of otters showing well in ambleside and englands only golden eagle on haweswater and he's apparently displaying now.
you're also not far off stbees head, though again too early probably for the black guillemots |

| | | Re: off to keswick in cumbria in 2 weeks time- advice Plenty of buzzards and ravens to keep you going in the winter. Although ive never found the lakes that good for birding, for scenery nothing beats it. |

| | | Re: off to keswick in cumbria in 2 weeks time- advice 20 years ago we usually went to the Lake District, staying at Manesty Park near the south end of Derwent Water. Try this area for Merganser, and also Common Sandpiper. Apart from Peregine, Buzzard and Raven in various places (e.g. Great End from Styhead or Sprinkling Tarn), I did see Twite on High Spy. Wheatear are common, but you are too early for them to be back. |

| | | Re: off to keswick in cumbria in 2 weeks time- advice There are Ring Ouzels in the Lakes too!
I heard one last year while walking the fells, although I can't remember exactly where.
I do remember I was there at the end of May though!

| | | Re: off to keswick in cumbria in 2 weeks time- advice I was there week before last, 50+ goldeneye on Grasmere along with Goosander.
But yeah, it's funny, the Lakes aren't actually that great for birding. |
