Unknown bird...Please help!!!

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone could help me with identifying a bird I saw in my garden. It is quite large, a little bigger than a pigeon. It's face is red in a mask like an owl. It's head and wings are brown and it's chest is red like it's face down almost half way then it's chest is grey/brown. I live in NE Lincs and near fields if that helps!!!! Thanks. Nicola

Hi!!! Thanks for the reply. I forgot to say it was up a tree sitting on a branch and as it was face on to me I could not see a tail but looking at the picture I took I can see it does not have a long tail like a pheasant. It is also a very oval shaped bird just like an owl in fact, except this was taken in glorious sunshine today at about 2pm and not at night!!! x

could be a jay google it on images and see if its a match

Thanks for all the replies. It is not a jay as it has a red face. I have the pic on my camera so will have to get one of my children to show me how to put it onto the laptop....... It isn't very clear but will give you the general idea!!!!!

Its a Robin! I think you may have got you size a bit mixed up .

Its difficult to appreciate the size in this pic but he is bigger than a thrush I would say.
