Brockholes Reserve opens Easter Monday

The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire's new reserve at Brockholes is due to open on Easter Sunday. The concept will be to encourage visitors to the site next to junction 31 of the M6 who have never visited reserves before. Children will be positively encouraged with a family hide, picnic and play areas as well as events like mini beast hunts and face painting.
Lots of people visiting the countryside hate to get out of sight of their cars so the reserve has been planned with lots to see within easy reach of the car park including the family hide, restaurant, toilets and shops.
For more experienced bird watchers a series of trails will take you through the 110 hectare site including alongside the River Ribble and the Ribble Way long distance footpath. The reserve is bordered by ancient woodland which together with the flooded gravel pits, scrapes,species rich meadows and tidal reaches of the River Ribble provide an attractive habitat for many resident and migratory birds.
