| | | Re: Bird track Yes, I'm registered. I use it to record all my bird sightings. You can put onto it past records as well as current ones.
Very easy to use .. You need to set up a site list, just add new ones as you go along. Then you record a list, or, for small number of species a casual record. It has a full drop down list of birds for you to choose from, or if you find something extremely rare that isn't listed then you can add it in. You can either list them as present, or give numbers as you wish. For the summer breeding period there is a drop down list of breeding status (e.g. with nest building material, or carrying food etc) which you don't have to do, but as the records go onto the Bird Atlas it is very useful info to put in. Spaces to add notes, about the site, weather conditions, bird behaviour etc. You can access all your records easily, and it will produce your species lists for your sites, or a what-you-might-expect list for a larger 10km2 area.
There is protection of data on sensitive species.
There are all sorts of maps/graphs for species, on weekly or whatever period you want to see, first sightings dates for migrants, etc. Fascinating to look through.
Your records help the BTO build up a greater picture of what is happening to birds in the UK. And these records have also been feeding into the Bird Atlas (we are just about to enter the last breeding season for that).
Go for it! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
