| | | Re: Bird of the day! Woo-hoo. My first Shelduck Mud-flats at Kingoodie by Dundee.Dozens of them actually! They're handsome beasts and have usurped my former favourite duck, the Eider.
Also a fair few curlew and waders too far out on the flats for my 10x50's.Considering I was having a half hour skive from work, am well chuffed.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Short Eared Owls! The three hunting close to Capel Fleet today. And the three reported hunting at Shellness at the same time: myself and the guy who watched the other three compared notes and times to confirm there were indeed six owls there.
"My" three never got close enough for a decent photo. But watching them was wonderful as always.
Interesting that other reports I have read show sudden fluctuations in SEOs over wintering in the South.
Cheers,
Bryan

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Just seen a sleak, dark cormorant, diving very close to the shore. Amazing how far it travelled underwater in each "dive", as it made its way along the coast.
