If it makes you feel better, its favourite haunt, the" Tyre Bush"(so called as it has a few tyres at its base),is hundreds of metres in from the sea wall,if you go for it make sure you have high mag.Nobody seems to mention the range.
Well done to those who toughed it out, even though the shore was frozen, and it was one of those days when you could smell warm soup at several miles.
It appears that the colder the day the later it seems to appear, probably like most of us, if we could.
Best of luck .

This is a big deal for us... we hardly EVER get finches, and this is the first we've seen since last summer. |

Can't decide.. the pied wagtail that cheered me up in the car park after my morning swim, the grey heron that startled me flying low over a hedge as I drove up a narrow lane near home, or the buzzard that delighted me by being roosted in the same tree as yesterday, overlooking a sharp bend in the same lane.... |

Went to Capel Fleet to see if the Short Eared owls are back hunting in daylight or early eve. No Owls seen. But for an hour and a half until dark I was treated to an almost non stop display by the local Harriers. Six in sight at one time, four in front almost together and two just past me heading out towards Elmley.
No idea how many different ones I saw. Just lots! Theyall seemed to have decided to hunt the Fleet near the Viewing Point and road today.
One chased another off and made it drop it's prey in the adjacent field. Not very polite!
Had one fly low right over the top of my car.
Did manage to get one totally grotty photo in the dreadfully dull conditions. It really was awful light.
Cheers,
Bryan

My Bird of the Day is a parakeet- first one that I've seen in the garden since before all the snow here in London. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! A couple of bitterns showing well at Forest Farm nature reserve in Cardiff this morning.
I had a perfect photo opportunity to catch one flying low from one side of the pool to the other, in great light - and completely muffed it up!! |
