It was at Greatstone beach, Kent, not too far from the RSPB reserve at Dungeness.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Has to be kestrel today. Neil and I saw at least eight on our trip to Donna Nook but the best view was shortly after setting off for home. I saw one fly up into a try above the road ahead and, with nothing behind me, I slowed right down and got great views as we drove underneath. It took off again and flew ahead of the car for a hundred yards or so before settling in another tree. At which point we left it in peace and drove on.
Didn't see a buzzard all day so it's 8-0 to the kestrels, the highest margin yet.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! This was really yesterday, i saw about ten goldfinches eating thistle seeds out in the fields, a bit more cold and I might get them in the garden. Wonderful to see so many together at once.
