| | | Re: Bird of the day! My bird of the day is the crow. A really surreal moment. Frosty morning, a squirrel going demented in my front garden and four magpies, these magpies pair off and start hammering each other proper claws and everything. A crow comes along and gets in the middle of this scrap and shouts a lot. the magpies then all line up and the row is marching about like he's in charge of a bunch of unruly squaddies funniest thing I've seen for a while. |

If it was Sparrowhawk sized, Kestrel would be the most likely suspect. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Barn Owl
Went out to look for roe deer and got distracted by a white shape moving down the hedgerow. I flew straight towards us at about 2m above ground, briefly hovering above us before continuing around the field and into the distance.
Stunning

| | | Re: Bird of the day! A tawny owl, which landed on a post 8 or 10 feet away from me last night. These have always been a favourite of mine, ever since, many years ago, I was night fishing on a very still night, not a ripple on the lake. I was half asleep in my chair when something landed on my head. I instinctively moved a hand up and the owl took off from my head and flew off low across the lake. Quite a moment. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
