They are so quick i was having a coffee in the patio when i heard their distinctive birdie sound so i had to run like a DEMENTED BEAST to find my camera in the living room. |

Always seemed an odd habitat for them, in amongst the shingle and so close to the sea!
This is my Bird of the Day from yesterday - a male House Sparrow. I mentioned a month or so ago that they had appeared in our garden after an absence of several years. I'm glad to say that I've seen them here almost everyday since, sometimes three or four together. |

One ran out in front of our car recently, doing £330 worth of damage. |

Mark H | Simple Mark. Smashed through the front grill. The bird ended up behind a side panel, at first I didn't see it but the smell of roasting partridge soon got me to look further!
£85 for the grill, that's fine but the labour to fit it?
I haven't had it done yet. It's not a safety issue so I'm leaving it. Knowing my luck the moment I have it done another one would do the same trick! |

When I first saw it it was at the side of the road. Just as I approached it it ran out and then tried to take off, hence how it managed to hit the grill. I hate killing anything wild, but there was nothing I could do. |

Hoping to see them learning to hover soon-always entertaining.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Bird(s) of the day - 2 Oystercatchers in my back garden! What's that all about!? Typically, had my camera in the boot of the car, just in case I saw anything when I'm out and about Never thought I'd be needing it when I opened the curtains first thing - that'll teach me, I nearly always bring it in to download, etc from the day before. They flew off pretty much straight away but a definite first for my garden! | |
