| | | Re: Bird of the day! Sorry, I meant the first seen at that nature reserve. A really nice surprise.
Ravens are fantastic birds. Well done Pete!

| | | Re: Bird of the day! A good day spent in my local area. BotD was a singing Wood Warbler, runners up were male Garganey, 3 Ring Ouzels, Wheatears, Yellow Wagtails, Red-breasted Merganser and Peregrine. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Seeing a lot of blackcaps this last week or so. We had at least one male following us today for a while, making that very distinctive alarm call, like two marbles knocking together. Super little birds and a pleasure to see.
Cheers. Nik.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Had a good day out today and managed some excellent birds but the Redstart has to take centre stage for its sheer beauty.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! my bird of the day was a humble Common Snipe on my local patch but 6 Common Buzzard together put in an appearance on mass upsetting local Carrion Crows and Common Terns and a Peregrine put in a brief show. 3 Grasshopper Warbler were reeling away but proving very elusive and the Cetti's Warbler likewise. A good scattering of Blackcap, Sedge Warbler and Common Whitethroat made for frustrating photography but overall a good day out in the sun. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! had a great walk around clifton grove yesterday afternoon, highlights included lots of warblers, counted up to 15 singing blackcap, lots of whitethroat amongst others, 2 grey partridge, a large flock of linnet and my first singing reed warbler of the year.
no sign of the ring ouzel or brambling which have been seen over the weekend though!

| | | Re: Bird of the day! This morning near Ten Acre wood heard my first singing Lesser Whitethroat of the year + had a brief flight view of it. Plenty of Whitethroats, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs + a few Willow Warblers.
Also Buzzard over, a white (apart from a red watttle) Pheasant, 2 Sand Martins + 2 Wheatears on the spoil heaps.
Moving onto Ickenham Marsh + a Little Egret along the stream. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! A Magpie, we see very few of them up here. I see more Osprey or Slavonian Grebes in a year than I see Magpies.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! A buzzard today, wheeling and circling over my mum and dad's garden (in the suburban depths of Long Eaton). It was seen off by a single crow.
Cheers. Nik.
