an intersting thing happend this morning whilst i was sitting in my front room , i was quite horrified at what i saw an rather upset. i have a complete veiw of my back yard from where i sit. an i like to watch the birds come down an perch on the trees to eat the seeds i have placed for them.
this morning was dfferent..................... 3 magpies swooped down on to my lawn........ 2 of the magpies started to jump on to the other magpie an peck it. i banged on the window an off the 2 flew i thought the other one had gone as well, as i turned they were back jumping and pecking the other magpie. i went to hush them off again when the most horrific thing happend................ one of the magpies jumped and pecked the magpie they were picking on so hard he killed him oh the horror. i hushed them away. the returned to peck more........... i mean come on the poor thing..... they had allready killed him but continued some more .
i went out to the shops and returned shortly to find the dead little magpie had dissapeard. i went outside an no sign. but i cn hear the other two evil magpies. they seem to be stalking about. oh it was horrible. how can nature be soooooo cruel............ |

Seems to be singling out a weaker individual.
My bird of the day was a heron coming in to land in the wee runoff pond in the field just beside my bus stop. It was only a meter or so above my head and as it landed I heard some commotion and on looking over the hedge watched as the heron had a little fight with one that was already there before seeing it off. Could it be that frogs are already out and about as I doubt there would be much else in there. |

She was struggling against the wind and seemed pleased to have landed in a tree for a rest

...and near enough to the lounge window to get this fairly decent photo of a gorgeous little bird.
