| | | Re: Bird of the day! Mine today is one of the Starlings nesting next door. I was sitting in my posh new hide for hours today and I was accompanied by this Starling given an amazing repertoire of bird song. I didn't realise how varied the Starling song can be, I wish now I'd recorded the bird. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! My bird of the day was a Yellowhammer. Had a wonderful close up view of a male sitting on a fence post at Wye & Crundale Downs in Kent. It was a glorious sunny day, and his yellow head seemed to have an extra special brightness. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! I have never seen a willow warbler or a yellowhammer maybe sometime in the future I will be lucky enough to say they were my birds of the day.
Lovely crested grebe Roger, I have not seen any this year. But I have seen plenty of your Starlings Graham I find them quite amusing birds with great character Great close up
My bird of the day has to be this Heron, I have never been so close to one before or got a near decent shot of one before but this one was more than happy to pose for me. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Cracking shot Barbara, how close were you?
My bird of the day was this little chaffinch, singing his heart out in Sulham Woods a couple of hundred yards from me.
Managed to record his song as well for posterity. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Hi rolf and thanks, I am no good with measurements but I would guess about 30 feet away possibly not even that. I was suprised at it's small size, I expected it to be much larger close up.
Looks like your chaffinch is a very happy chaffinch, lovely shot, well done |
