| | Re: Bird of the day! my miserable grey damp day has just been somewhat improved by a pair of visiting long tail tits (my first sighting this year) frantically darting between shrubs, feeding their young maybe. a welcome addition to my little garden.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Took a party to Dungeness + despite a ropy forecast we had an excellent day. Leaving the coach by the railway cafe we had a pair of Black Redstarts, female Common Redstart, several Greenland Wheatears, various warblers + many Linnets.
On the sea several Gannets, flock of Common Scoter + Whimbrel, 2 Red-throated Divers + many terns. Wherever I looked for a bird there also seemed to be a Harbour Porpoise which was a wonderful bonus.
On the RSPB reserve some stunning Yellow Wagtails, a group of 6 Wood Sandpiper, Hobby, pair of Marsh Harriers + bird of the day- my first UK Whiskered Tern (seen lots overseas) which was actively feeding + also perched on a stick from the water. A great day! |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! As I stood at the bus stop at the end of my road early this morning was watching a Hobby flying very low over the roof tops, hoping to catch a bird unawares. They seem locally keen on Starlings! |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! It would have been the 5 Mallard Ducklings until I saw 2 male Slavonian Grebes, but they were just pipped by a Red-throated Diver. All less than 8 miles from home. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Wood warbler singing both songs oh so beautifully and showing very well in Strid Woods, Bolton Abbey this morning. I had a good do today, getting the 'holy trinity' of northern upland woodland specialities, with redstart and pied flycatcher as well.
