| | | Re: Bird of the day! had a great farmland walk today in clifton, notts
plenty of buzzards, my 1st ever peregrine, kestrels, jays, skylarks singing, lapwings doing display flights, reed buntings and a huge number of fieldfare, among others
the lapwings definately stole the title for BOTD though, brilliant agile flight, and one of my favourite birdy sounds

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Nice Lapwing, its a fab sound, saw one today too, they have been back on breeding areas here for a few weeks now though.
But best was a lovely Woodcock, flushed then watching it jerking away downriver with that gorgeous rufous rump.
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Hi.
Couldn't get out today, (other half has concussion ) so didn't get to see anything unusual. Instead had a close incounter with this cheeky bird in the garden.
And because he was so jolly cheerfull and photogenic, this Robin is the bird of the day for me.

I was actually going to go up there on the first nice day with my camera to spot one, but it came to me!
My goal is still to film or photograph one, though .

...but best sight was a cock pheasant in the bright sunshine crouching in a great mass of snowdrops in the lovely old churchyard of St. Leonard's Hartley Mauditt
(the church is all that's left in this delightful deserted village near Selborne in Hampshire)

| | | Re: Bird of the day! BotD has to be this lovely little fella, which i photographed at the bird ringing station at uni. usually the yellowhammers there just fly off and don't come back when you approach, but i stayed behind the viewing panel long enough for this one to come down and start feeding. best views i've had of one so far! also watched a buzzard for a long time sitting on a fence post, while a skylark sang right above my head, great soundtrack!!!
