| | | Re: Bird of the day! in my garden i've always seen one dunnock feeding away, but always just one. i've just spent about 20 minutes watching THREE dunnocks in the garden. not much really, but in my urban horrible little yard, its quite an acheivment! they seem to be spending more time in the hedge as well, rather than just feeding and flying off, leading me to beleive that there may be a chance that there'll be some nesting at some point

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Having done a bit of a coastal wander from Cromarty on the Black Isle, along the coast to Udale Bay, taking in Chanonry Point and Munlochy Bay on the way back south, this is a bit of a tough one.
4 seperate sightings of Red Kite have to be pretty high up there, but we also saw Eider, Long-tailed Duck, Pink-footed Geese, Dunlin and Knot.
My personal favourite though has to be the 3 Ringed Plover we saw on the coast just east of Jemimaville. I only saw them as they started running along the shingle, they are so well camouflaged. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! On my way up to Nairn today I stopped next to a field with a lot of Geese. Hubby jumped out of the car and took a few photos, between our observations at the time and looking at the photos afterwards, we estimated them as 1000+ Pink-footed Geese and 500+ Greylag. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! As I was leaving a local redeveloping golf course I looked up to look at a Linnet when I noticed a Green Sandpiper fly up from some temporary flooding.
Also good to hear a singing Skylark across the road from here. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! I was up on the Mendips last night with The Hawk and Owl Trust doing a Long Eared Owl Survey. I didn't get any Long Eared Owls responding to my playback but myself and the gentleman I was with did get 8 Tawney Owls and a Mallard Duck.
On the drive back we spotted a Long Eared Owl fly off into the fields...or rather, we saw its bottom.
Today I was working near my bedroom window and saw 2 or collared doves, a lovely male Sparrowhawk hunting in earnest and he came back over my garden two or three times during the afternoon. I also saw at least two Dunnocks, Robins and 3 male blackbirds.
