| | | Re: Bird of the day! Made my first visit to the River Lee Country Park today and got some lovely views of bittern on Seventy Acres Lake.
When I got to the hide there was one standing on the ice in one of the channels through the reeds...
But then it walked away from the hide to the end of the channel before flying off to a distant reedbed...
But there was another bird present and this one gave good views closer to the hide...
Although when it went into the reeds it was difficult to keep track of...
I called back into the hide about four hours later before leaving and it was still putting on a display, although by that time it was heavily back-lit.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Wow! Fantastic pictures. Spent the day at the local NR yesterday - apparently there are a couple of bitterns around, but we didn't get a glimpse. Did see a water rail, female goosander and about 10 reed buntings though. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! About 8 or 10 goldfinches on the newly-installed sunflower feeder; a first for our garden. They made a lot of noise and stayed for a minute or two.
Very pleased with that one, and a pleasure to see them.

Lovely little bird starting to see a few about when out with the dog but nice to see one from the living room whilst listening to Planet Rock (thats a strange combo for you Wren and Rock! )

| | | Re: Bird of the day! HI.
My bird of the day would be a Slavonion Grebe at Whitlingham country park, Norwich, along with Red necked grebe, great northern diver, 2 goosanders and a smew as well as Lesser Redpoll in the woods.
Another good bird today was Ruddy Duck.
