| | | Re: Bird of the day! After months of general garden visitors, last week I had a female great spotted woodpecker on a peanut feeder, which then 'scuttled' up and round the tree and today 3 goldfinches, 2 of which were furiously eating from a niger seed feeder. Of course, by the time I worked out how to use husband's camera they had gone! Sadly still no hawfinches this year....... |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! I have been scattering fresh seed and bread each morning (in case it gets buried overnight!) and have begun to notice a few regulars over the past week.
The grey wagtail now comes each day along with 2 male and 1 female chaffinch. The 2 males seem to spend most of the time scrapping!!
Fewer greenies using the feeders as before the snow, 2-3 goldies, a pair of robins plus the usual starlings, tits (not sure which ones) house sparrows, blackbirds and doves.
Also occasionaly catch glimpses of other birds in the trees at the end of the garden which I think are possibly fieldfare or redwing.
Nothing exciting, but still great to watch! |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! I saw two Treecreepers in the local woods whilst walking my dog this afternoon. Poor things were having to dodge around patches of snow on the tree trunks, I think there was more snow than bare trunk. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! The cold and snow has certainly brought out the birds in force! 4 Bullfinches on the feeders today when we normally only get 1 or 2 occasionally.

Had a stranger visiting the garden this morning, a Redwing.Have not seen one of these around here for a considerable number of years. The Reed Bunting turned up again. Both images taken through the kitchen window hence the quality.Fresh snowfall again last night.
