| | | Re: Bird of the day! Yesterday I just took in all the birds I could see in my field of vision as soon as I got up and went outside. A wren, a dunnock, wood pigeons, a blackbird and a flock of redwings coming in to take the hawthorn berries.
Today a green woodpecker in the old apple tree...it's been around a lot recently, mainly on the ground in the field next door

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Just got back from a fantastic day in the New Forest and on the coast at Lepe. My bird(s) of the day have to be the brent geese, turnstone, rock pipit and oystercatcher (that my sister thought was a magpie )

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Lovely early morning walk in Alice Holt Forest (I quit my job YEEEHAAAH!!)
Saw a buzzard swoop ponderously from one tree to another and sit there ,turning its head but looking otherwise quite unconcerned in the wonderful morning sunlight.
Often see them close up from the car, but rarely when walking so it was nice to just stop and take a good look.

Spent most winters in the 80's and 90's traveling to Tregaron to photograph/film them and never thought at the time I'd see them within 5 miles of my house! |

I've only seen on in the wild here myself (If you like Red Kites you would love Germany - they are all over the place! ).
My bird of the day is actually several. I was out shopping when I saw a small skein of Canada geese heading for a local pond. I think I'll have to get myself over there soon and see what else has turned up .
