All those Feral Pigeons the British Songbird Society want to save from all those nasty BoPs.

A starling walking up and down the back of one of the Icelandic ponies in the field next door to us.
He seemed very welcome in this hot weather.

My bird of the (Mon) day was a this - wonderful to see but I'd've needed more than three times my focal length to get a decent shot - or preferably a closer hobby!

My bird of the day is little Penny Wren, who has built her nest in my workshop where I make the wood for my nestbox counters. The babies haven't opened their eyes yet, but when I come in they open their mouths excitedly and I see a little row of diamond shaped mouths agape.

The funny bit is this - If I spend more than 20 minutes in there, then she comes and perches on the door and says "CHEEP - CHEEP - MY TURN" (and golly, wrens are loud) so I have to go and do something else for a while.

I'll post some pictures later on - the babies are SO sweet.

Cuckoo! I heard her/him again this morning about 0730 ... isn't this very late to ehar cuckoos? I know they've seemed rare this year, perhaps they are changing their season a bit? any ideas, anyone?
