| | | Re: Bird of the day! There can only be one bird for me today - this cormorant next to the Kennet & Avon Canal just west of Reading! Posed for ages for us! My sister came for a walk with us and had never seen one before, she was spellbound!

My bird of the day is a female Blackbird that was gathering soggy leaves from the guttering on the greenhouse this morning! She worked so hard, pity the male didn't help her! Strange that they don't really! Anyway, she kept flying into the conifers so I am hoping that she is building her nest there and not flying straight through to the neighbours garden! Of course I will not look as I don't want to disturb her. I hope she is successful in raising a brood! |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! In a field close to Park Lime Pitts in Walsall today I was watching a flock of Golden Plovers feeding as Lapwings flew above them and just in front Skylarks soared and sung, while behind me Yellowhammers chirped away- best birding morning I've had yet. |
