my bird of the day is a song thrush. she has been coming for at least a month now but is so shy i have never managed to get a decent shot of her. Until today i always put some sultanas out for her as she loves them and guards them with such dignity.
hope you like her as much as i do. |

I'm so happy I have a firecrest. I was reluctant to believe it was, but it is so strikingly bright, freshly painted, with a very green back and head so stripy, it just didn't look like a goldcrest. I've only ever seen a few of those, and only fleetingly.
This little bird is dropping by all day. I do hope he finds himself a wife and settles down. I seem to be exceptionally lucky this year with the birds I'm seeing.
Haven't seen any male blackcaps yet.
Long tailed tits seem very plentiful this winter, and most of the small birds really. Loads of wrens and robins.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! For most of the last couple of months I've seen very few winter thrushes around London. This weekend quite a lot of them around. This morning there were c90 Fieldfares + 16 Redwings in the Greenford Country Park down the road + not too far away in the Brent River Park c100 Fieldfares + 55 Redwings were feeding on playing fields.
Apair of Bullfinches feeding on buds in the country park the other highlight. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! My birds of the day were the Hawfinches that were singing in the New Forest this morning. Heard my first Siskins of the year singing also.
Other highlights were Raven, Crosbills & possible Goshawk. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
