| | | Re: Bird of the day! Thanks John, but partly a case of determination. I spotted the kestrel from about half a mile away from where I'd ended up, and followed it. Here's a slightly longer sequence, but over the whole event I took about 200 shots which I'm still working through. |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! I went outside this morning to top up the bird feeders and heard the flap of wings, thinking it was a pigeon I carried on walking. When I looked to my left I saw, standing on the high wall, a cock pheasant! He croaked and then dropped into next door's garden. I threw some seed near the wall in the hope that he will return. A pheasant in the garden is a first for us! |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Words and Ollie, they are incredible photos (although the kestrel does look mildly undignified with vole guts stuck to his nose! ).
I was waiting for mum to come out of the supermarket today when I heard something 'tap-dancing' on my car roof. I couldn't see anything in my rear view mirror, so I slid back the inner sun roof and saw the culprit...
I had to wait for him to settle on another car before I could take the photo - unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to catch him looking down at me through the (closed) sun roof.

We were enjoying watching the tits & woodpecker on the feeders
When suddenly they all disappeared... I'm not sure why?

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Mine is the kingfisher which we watched perched and flying low over the Thames in Oxfordshire.
It's the first one I can remember seeing for a couple of years and was the highlight of our afternoon!
