| | | Re: Bird of the day! I have two birds of the day - goldcrests and treecreepers - seen in my garden.
There were at least three goldcrests, twittering and flitting around the firs, often coming down to the lower branches, giving me a very good view of them.
Whilst watching the goldcrests, I spotted a treecreeper in a fir. Another joined it and they flew up towards the treetops rather agitatedly chattering and flying round each other - so I assume they were fighting. One returned to the garden and spent some time on a willow.
Managed a few not very good photos of one of the treecreepers. I've borrowed a friend's 70-300mm lens; unfortunately it's extremely soft (but the poor results with it have given me a kick towards purchasing something an awful lot better!). I wish the one of it plummeting had come out sharper... |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Thanks Roger, until recently I hadn't seen treecreepers in the garden, but now I'm getting regular sightings Hope this means they're going to hang around in this area. |

| | Re: Bird of the day! my birds of the day, i saw these birds today down at the local reserve
SIDDICK PONDS in workington, a DIPPER as i walked to the reserve by the river, at the reserve i was extremely fortunate to see a bittern which i watched for a good 15 mins, the ice had pushed it to the edge of the reeds,
also i watched a kestrel mobbing a barn owl, plus plenty of goosanders,
pochard and tufted ducks and 1 little grebe. what a good day |
