| | | Re: Bird of the day! [quote=matt_xyz;103764]my bird of the day yesterday was this Skylark. I found several of them and spent an enjoyable hour or so watching them launch into the air singing and then stalking them once they landed. This was probably the best of my shots.
Lovely shot Matt! By the look of it you weren't going to get any closer either! |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! My bird of the day has to be this female Bullfinch. I went in my hide after work but the lighting was not too good. After a while, a pair of Bullfinches appeared in the branches behind the feeders, after a while the female came down to eat and shortly after the male followed. It as the other way round when I first saw them two weeks ago. I do like to think that they are visiting when I am not there. They ate mainly sunflower hearts. |

John | Thanks very much John and nightshade. I am so pleased they came back and I'm impressed that they come in so close, as I said the light wasn't too good so I was pleased with the image. I'm praying for lovely sunshine for when I'm off work Friday but apparently it's going to rain.
PS I think that this is a lovely thread, well done to the person who thought of it. |

My excitement of the day - my long-tailed tits are back
They don't visit often and I doubt whether I will manage a photograph. They don't keep still long enough.

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Thankyou Beryl, jennybee and Roger. Glad your Long Tails have come back Jenny. I only see mine from time to time. I am lucky that the birds come to me and I don't have to go in search of them unless I want to. If I go to the reserve the Bullfinches don't come in this close. We have made the decision to sell our 12' x 8' greenhouse to make way for a new hide which will be surrounded by shrubbery and trees. It will also overlook our wildlife pond and also a stream. This part of the garden gets the afternoon and late afternoon sun. Can't wait, just gotta clean the greenhouse out first. |

My bird of the day has to be this female Blackbird who decided to sit pretty close to the bedroom window where I was standing with the camera. Just a pity about the wire she decided to use as a perch.

Roger | Well I suppose she has to cling on to something Roger great detailed image, nice feathering and lighting. And I thought I was lucky birds coming to feed by my hide, I haven't got them trained to come to the bedroom window...........well not yet anyway. |

We had a one legged blue tit last year for quite a few months, it didn't seem hindered at all. We have had a dunnock visiting all winter with only 2 claws on one foot. |
