Other goodies included Stonechats, a pair of displaying Sparrowhawks with a couple of Buzzards with them.
Lots of good insects too. |

Roger | Thank you Roger I am pretty proud of it. I could not believe my eyes at first but it stands to reason I suppose I was on a cliff top and he was hovering over near the edge watching for prey.If I had been down the bottom I would never Have got the shot.Sheer luck and I feel great to have seen him at all but over the moon to see him so close.I never thought I would see the day I would get so excited over a bird.A few years back I would not have even noticed so photography has certainly opened my eyes and also gives the incentive to go for long walks which is certainly good for your health and fitness

The Heron In The Park
As I walked into our park today
A Heron flew down and stood in my way
We stood looking daggers face to face
With a beak like his, I knew my place.
I'm sure he said "How do you do"
I said "pleased to meet your acquaintance too"
I didn't step forward, he didn't move back
Neither of us budged nor cut any slack
He then flew to the railing beside the brook
My camera ensuing and photos I took
After a while he took to the air
And I took some more photos that I'd like to share
One on the railing another in the sky
Then I said cheerio and waved him good bye |

| | | Re: Bird of the day! Very nice shots of the Heron beryl and a nice poetry as well.
My bird of the day, well actually the last two days has been this Pied Wagtail. He/she lands on the house roof and then drops down on to my out house roof just below my bedroom window. I know when he/she is on the house roof because I can hear him/her calling which gives me time to get the camera ready.

Beryl I would love to get close enough to a heron, even though one visits my pond I always scare it off once I open the patio door. A few weeks ago one landed in the trees at the back of the garden it just looked so funny just sitting there but it was a proper miserable rainy day so I didn't even bother trying to capture it. Lovely capture.
Sorry to hear your not well Roger, that is a super image of a wagtail with nice feather detail.
