Any ideas what this is. It looked too big for a kestrel but doesnt have the markings for a buzzard??

Sparrowhawks are little tinkers, they can ride the air in a similar way to Kestrel and also soar high on thermals like Peregrines.

Cheers guys, made me night that has as of the 84 species of birds I have seen, the sparrowhawk was the only one I didnt have a pic of.

A sparrowhawk, yes; broader, shorter-looking wings than a kestrel, but obviously not always easy to see that.
