| | | Re: Expert opinions required please Thanks and sorry, gull and pipit at Pentewan, pigeon type at Charlestown, Cornwall all today, thought the gull was to white for a herring gull, the pigeon was part of a flock of about 20+ all the same colour, they all seem to live in the harbour. thanks again,L. |

| | | Re: Expert opinions required please Re your last photo, its definately a feral (ex-domestic) pigeon at Charlestown. A large flock were brought down there years ago to be released for a film (Mansfield Park I seem to recall). Whoever supplied them assured the film company that they would go home, like homing pigeons do. Sadly the white dove type pigeons are not known for their homing ability (we have them as pets), and the majority of them stayed in the village. Those that didn't fall prey to the local perergine, drown in the harbour or die off over the winter, have formed a feral colony (joined by the odd lost racing pigeon) and make quite an attractive addition to the historical harbour setting. Locals feed them regularly and numbers have not increased to the point of a nuisance yet. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...es-414700.html
