| | | Please advice. I have a wild magpie its wing is broken and cannot be repaired. My choices are to put to sleep or care for it. It will recover and be free from pain but is it fair to keep a wild animal in a cage even if it is a large cage, or is it kinder to put to sleep. |

| | | Re: Please advice. Really thank you the only help I have been given is that horrid choice. The sad thing is it is really healthy apart from its wing . Thank yo I will ask around it already seems much more comfortable around humans and doesn't panic. |

| | | Re: Please advice. Corvids generally settle down well in captivity. They are intelligent birds. I have known several flightless magpies and jackdaws, who manage quite well. Don't give up.

| | | Re: Please advice. Thank you I have hope now. I have been devastated over this I found it very upsetting to hear that no one is interested because it is a common bird. But I will keep looking . |

| | | Re: Please advice. Where abouts in the country are you? There are some private wildlife rescuers who might be willing to take on/re-home the bird for you. If you can tell us where you are, other members here might know of someone near you.
Have you phoned the RSPB? Although they will not take birds themselves, they often have lists of people who do. We had an injured young woodpigeon a few years back and the RSPB out us in touch with someone local who took it from us. |

| | | Re: Please advice. I was in the same situation a few months back. Someone took my injured magpie as a pet as it would never have been able to return to the wild. Good luck I hope you find someone to take it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
