| | | Dead pheasant mystery??? Ok so I was just locking up there when I noticed a cat chowing down on something big across the road at the side of my neighbours house. Thinking it maybe I crow I went out to have a look only to find it was a male pheasant . I suppose it's not really that unusual as I live in a reasonably rural town but I'm fairly sure there are no pheasants living anywhere near me having explored every last inch the local fields and woods round my way as a youngster and in the last few years when watching wildlife. Also the cat was one of those fluffy Persian jobs so I'm guessing the bird was already dead before it found it, maybe having been dropped by a fox dumped by a person.
Anyway here's a pic of the unfortunate bird, the other side round the neck are was all chewed where the cat was munching on it. |

I've noticed an apparent increase in pheasants on my local patch - I used to only see them near Carbeth (where I know they are released for shooting), now I frequently encounter them in the fields around my home. |

I think Seamusgleann has solved the mystery |
