| | | Small birds shots with open wings. Today I tried to get some shots of small birds either flying or at least with open wings.
Here's my efforts so far:
What I found was that these small birds are so fast and unpredictable. The only chance I had was to try and judge just when they were about to take off, fire loads of shots and hope!
Yet again though the 7D did its job well. Not so sure I did, but the camera focusing was very impressive. |

| | | Re: Small birds shots with open wings. excellent shots, i particularly like the blue tit on the bottom of the 5th image. you never really see the size/shape of their wings and tails, so its interesting to capture them like this, they look too big for their tiny bodies!!!
were these taken around sherwood?

| | | Re: Small birds shots with open wings. with weather like this i'd consider everyone of them a minor miracle.
getting the light to even try for a shot like those is difficult enough at the moment |

Same spot where I got the Sparrowhawk. The bird feeders are in full sun all day. There's a regular pair of Woodpeckers and a male Yellowhammer which I've now seen there on three days. |

| | | Re: Small birds shots with open wings. Fantastic shots, Graham - I've only just seen this post. How many days and hours did you wait to get these shots?
I was quite pleased with some of the pics from our nestbox webcams - until now! Still, what can we expect when all we have to do is scan through lots of photos from 3 boxes each evening? Here's one of my favourites from last year...................
...............but how's this for "wingless flying"? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
