Finally the bullfinches arrived

How chuffed am I now? Just got done sorting the feeders out after the heavy rain and wind over the last few days then cleaned my kitchen window to try and get some better pictures when these guys appeared. I could see the female in the trees behind my fence but just wasn't sure if it was a bull or a chaff when it followed the siskins down shortly followed by the male. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen them too. Just need greenfinches now and that will probably be me for local finch life.

They really know how to pose for the camera and as you can see they like my ghetto style feeders

Where I live has always been a haven for bullfinches, this year they have been flocked up, seen 20 in a line of blackthorn the other day..youve done well to catch them on camera, they are usually so shy, and here I hear more than I see..lovely birds

I had a few in the garden late January, initially thought about 10 but when I counted them up from a record shot through the window there were 17! And a male Blackcap!

Oi, don't be so greedy! Share them!! I have only ever seen one Bullfinch in/on the boundaries of my garden and that was a male one day in late January 2003, so I reckon I must be due another!

Yeh thats what really surprised me as there's not really much cover around but they seemed really bold and didn't bother me taking pictures and the end of the camera even tapped on the window at one point. That's actually another 2 firsts for me this week (goldcrest and bullfinch).

I hadn't seen one before until 10 days ago. I have seen 4 since then (at different locations..unless they stowed away in the back of the pick-up!!). Curious!
