| | | A flurry of tits Good morning,
Last week there was a "Count your birds day" if my memory is correct.
I am not sure the feathered friends we have in the north of France qualify as British birds but I am curious about this year.
It started to get consistently cold in December, like in England, and my garden is full of tits!
I have seen:
1 Crested Tit,
4 Great Tits,(simultaneously)
2 Coal tits, (simultaneously)
1 Willow Tit, (or was it a Marsh Tit?)
Up to 12 Blue Tits. (simultaneously)
There are 5 balls hanging in the trees and a container for peanuts. I realize that providing food was bound to increase my popularity, but the set-up in the garden is as usual in winter and I have never seen so many tits in a winter.
On the other hand, I have only seen 4 sparrows.
Is it a "Tit Year"?
Regards,
Gerard |

| | | Re: A flurry of tits dont really know, but a lot of people reported, more tits than usual, , so presumably, many were successful in rearing their young, but after the recent bad weather ,it will be intresting to see how many have made it ,as many dont survive their 1st winter, rossy.

| | | Re: A flurry of tits It may also be worth mentioning that tit species form mixed species flocks at this time of year and roam around together so you would end up with a sort of all or nothing situation depending on where the flock decides to go.
