Has anybody any information on the proposed experimental cull of buzzards, sparrowhawks, and corvids to test the impact on song bird populations? I won't pretend to concern about magpies or jackdaws but raptors?

Yup, same dodgy bunch. As I said, they are now after buzzards and spazhawks as well. It does seem a remarkable coincidence that the spp that they are after are the fave enemies for grouse shoot owners. What about all those blasted red kites? OSPREYS? Peregrines? Eagles?

Surely the law would have to be changed to enable anyone to cull raptors? The SST may be pressing for such law changes but I don't think I've seen anything that suggests any kind of 'experimental cull' of raptors is imminent? I'm not doubting what you say Styrbjorn, but where did you get this information?

There's an article in today's Daily Mail.....so it must be true

The article includes the following - "If the study finds a link, it could lead to a much wider cull extending to protected species such as sparrowhawks and buzzards."

It has been mentioned in the press, and I have read letters opposed to the idea. I am going to ask the mods to close this thread and refer people to the "Culling Corvids" thread. We don't need two threads on the same subject; only too often we end up with just that.
