| | | Fifteen I-Spy points for a Fieldfare Ha, ha!
Well I never knew that. Who else used the I-SPY BIRDS book? What were the other species you had to spot, and their all important points values?
I think I had one, but I can't really remember. I was very young. But it's coming back to me slowly. Help me remember.

| | | Re: Fifteen I-Spy points for a Fieldfare I loved it.
But that passed yesterday when I saw my first Bittern at the London Wetlands Centre. I was, as you might imagine, very excited; at least, until I went into the gift shop at the end and saw the I-SPY book.
"A-ha!" I wondered, "What do I get for a Bittern?"
Thirty measly points, that's what. You get 40 for a tawny owl! How common do they think bloody bitterns are? |

There easy if you live near a good area!
You'd be surprised how many people see Bittern before they see a Tawny Owl.
I remember having an I-spy birds book, but I can't remember how much anything was worth (far too long ago)! |

| | | Re: Fifteen I-Spy points for a Fieldfare I also had an I-spy book (possibly my first bird book or maybe some of the Ladybird books, later graduated to the Observer series!), but like Roy it is but a distant memory!
As a small boy in a very urban part of London without proper optics + a family who weren't into nature I wouldn't have ticked that much! I remember get so excited by identifying Curlew + Redshank from the train on the Exe Estuary as we went down to Dawlish for a holiday- memories! |

| | | Re: Fifteen I-Spy points for a Fieldfare Did no-one else but me join the I-Spy Tribe and get the code book and certifcate and stuff from Big Chief I-Spy? I found my wife's old 1970s I-Spy British Mammals book recently (nothing ticked) but obviously I can't lay my hands on it just now. I'll have to start ticking them off again |
