Really delighted to have been on a walk near home and seen seven crossbills. I have spent hours looking for them round Loch Garten and a group turn up less than half a mile walk from home. After I warm up a bit I am heading back out with the camera. |

I won't go into the controversial taxonomy of these birds! |

Arhhh. The crossbill dilemma!!! Just to confuse it even more how about the two barred crossbill too add to aeshna5's list!!! 
All four have been seen in Britain. |

I was talking to a couple of RSPB employees recently who reckoned that the only foolproof way of telling them apart was with a sonograph!
