My did my wife Margaret consider herself fortunate to get the opportunity to take a few shots of this female.
It was freezing and the wind bone chilling when all of a sudden she turned up without warning and in total silence.
She then proceeded to provide Margaret with unforgettable poses so dispite the cold she managed a few which I hope you will share with us.

And glad to see the bird managed a catch to help keep her sustained in the cold weather.

| | | Re: Female kingfisher Someone brought me an injured kingfisher a couple of years ago. It had flown into a window and was concussed. I passed the bird on to a police wildlife liason officer with a licence for kingfishers, and the bird made a full recovery. Briefly I held the bird in my hands - it was like holding a rainbow.
