| | | Snow bringing in new "regulars"? During the bad weather a few weeks ago I had a number of unusual birds turn up which I don't usually get (Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Grey Heron for example) but as usual they dissapeared once the snow melted and their usual food source was available again.
However I had a grey wagtail visit the garden during the snow and it seems that it has taken a shine to the place and has decided to stick around. I didn't even realise there were any in the area as I'd only seen pied wagtails of which there are loads. Anyway, it visits my garden 2 or 3 times everyday now much to my pleasure. It usually stays around the periphery of the bird table catching the seeds that fly off when the bigger birds are feeding but it's quite bold when the other birds get spooked often staying behind when the others have darted off, which worries me slightly as I don't think it's aware that we have a pair of resident sparrowhawks which the regular birds are finely tuned into.
Just wondered whether the snow had forced unusual visitors to anyones else's garden which have gone on to be regular visitors.
P.S. I'm attempting to attach a rather dodgy pic, hope it works. |
