Mid Wales Golden Eagle (Juvenile)

Christmas Eve, shortly after the most severe of the northery gales, I saw a very large bird of prey wafting up the valley. Grabbing my new camera (and not knowing the buttons very well), I took the best pictures I could as it perched in a pine tree then, once disturbed by a trio of Red Kites, exited back down the valley.


Not great I know, but as a diligent observer I found out what the buttons mean and kept my eyes open and have finally been rewarded.


... and for a sense of scale, we see the Golden Eagle being escorted by a Red Kite.

An excellent record. Have you informed the local bird recorder? It could well be the same bird that was recorded about twelve months ago in some southern locality in Snowdonia (I can't remember exactly when and where).

Informed RSPB in Cardiff... is that ok?

if it is a true sighting then we will see and hear of it all over the news not seen or heard any thing when was this sighting
